What We Are Looking For
Fully qualified & experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Certificate III qualification is required for Heavy Vehicle/Trailer Mechanics
Minimum 2 years of heavy vehicle mechanical experience is required
A commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Mechanic to join our team.
The Opportunity
This is a permanent, full-time position working:
Monday to Thursday | 2:00pm – 12:00am (4-day work week)
Overtime opportunities available.
For your first 3–4 weeks, you will work day shift to familiarise yourself with the team, systems and workshop processes. You will then transition to evening shift where you will oversee one other mechanic and help ensure smooth workshop operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a skilled heavy vehicle mechanic ready to take the next step in their career.
A minimum of 3-4 years of heavy vehicle mechanic experience is required.
Your Key Responsibilities
Carry out high-quality servicing, repairs and diagnostics on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers
Perform thorough quality control checks on all completed and scheduled work
Lead by example in maintaining a safe, organised and efficient workshop
Provide technical support, direction and mentoring to team members
Use diagnostic equipment and workshop systems to identify and resolve faults
Manage workflow during evening shift to ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met
Maintain accurate job documentation and update work-in-progress statuses
Follow company systems for stock control, parts ordering and administration
Identify potential mechanical or operational issues and escalate appropriately
Provide feedback to the Workshop Manager to support continuous improvement
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
Current Driver’s Licence
HR licence (or willingness to obtain one promptly)
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Experience working across various heavy vehicle and trailer makes and models
Solid computer literacy for workshop systems and diagnostics
A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Good communication skills and the ability to lead and support others
Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not required
You are reliable, take pride in your work, and are ready to step into a leadership position within a well-established workshop.

The Role
This position combines local truck driving with yard support duties. The work is varied but consistent, and you will be an important part of keeping our workshop operations running smoothly.
Your Responsibilities
Driving Duties:
Transport heavy vehicles to and from customer sites (local work only)
Confidently operate HC vehicles with crashbox/manual transmissions
Complete pre-start checks and ensure vehicles are handled responsibly
Represent the business professionally when dealing with customers
Yard & Workshop Support:
Move trucks and trailers within the yard and workshop
Assist with vehicle positioning for mechanics
Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard
Support the team with general Workshop operational duties
This is not long-haul work. You will be home every day.
About You
We are specifically seeking someone who:
Holds a current HC Licence
Has solid, proven experience driving crashbox/manual transmissions
Must have a minimum of 3+ years of HC driving experience
Has a clean driving record
Must maintain a clean driving record with no offences in the last 12 months
Understands heavy vehicle safety and compliance requirements
Must demonstrate knowledge of basic safety checks and heavy vehicle safety procedures
Is reliable, punctual and consistent
Takes pride in maintaining equipment and workspace
Wants long-term, secure employment
Must hold permanent residency status in Australia
You are steady, dependable and understand the importance of turning up and doing the job properly.
