With a strong, long-standing customer base, we specialise in servicing, repairs, and refurbishments for a wide range of vehicles—primarily heavy and light trucks, as well as heavy trailers for fleet owners of all sizes. Due to the growing demand for our expertise, we are looking for a skilled Auto Electrician to join our team of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Fabricators, Apprentices & Support Staff.
 
In this role, you will primarily be responsible for repairing heavy trucks and trailers, with some work on light vehicles, equipment, and machinery. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of vehicle and machinery types. This is a unique opportunity, as you will be the sole Auto Electrician on our team, giving you the chance to take ownership of this department and contribute to its future growth.
 
Job Responsibilities
 
Using test equipment to locate electrical and electronic malfunctions
Dismantling and removing electrical and electronic assemblies and components
Working on alternators, generators, voltage regulators, starter motors, ignition switches, electrical wiring and various other mechanical and electrical parts to ensure the safe operation of customer vehicles
Complete work in a safe and efficient manner
Accurate completion of all paperwork associated with repairs

Relevant Australian trade qualification
Air conditioning licence is preferred
Strong ability to prioritise and manage time effectively

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

All Fleet Service & Repairs is a respected, family-owned heavy vehicle workshop operating in a modern, state-of-the-art facility in Richlands, Brisbane. Since 1991, we’ve built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality servicing, repairs, and compliance support across Southeast Queensland.

We specialise in heavy trucks and trailers and proudly support a diverse customer base — from independent owner-operators to large national fleet companies.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or an experienced 4th Year Apprentice to join our team.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a permanent, full-time role working a 4-day week:
Monday to Thursday | Afternoon / Evening Shift (Midday or 2pm start to Midnight)

You will work closely alongside an exceptionally experienced Leading Hand Mechanic, gaining hands-on exposure to a wide variety of heavy vehicles and repair work. This is a genuine development opportunity for someone looking to build their skills under strong mentorship in a well-structured workshop.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with servicing, repairs and diagnostics on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers
  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard

  • Support the Leading Hand with workshop operations and workflow

  • Use diagnostic tools and workshop systems to identify faults (training provided where required)

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment

  • Accurately complete job documentation and follow workshop processes

  • Work collaboratively as part of a tight, efficient team

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or currently completing – 4th Year Apprentice)

  • Minimum of 3+ years heavy vehicle mechanic experience is required

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • HR licence (or willingness to obtain)

  • A genuine interest in heavy vehicles and mechanical work

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Ability to take direction and work well within a team

  • You’re motivated, reliable, and eager to develop your skills under the guidance of an experienced mentor.

The Role

This position combines local truck driving with yard support duties. The work is varied but consistent, and you will be an important part of keeping our workshop operations running smoothly.

Your Responsibilities

Driving Duties:

Transport heavy vehicles to and from customer sites (local work only)

Confidently operate HC vehicles with crashbox/manual transmissions

Complete pre-start checks and ensure vehicles are handled responsibly

Represent the business professionally when dealing with customers

Yard & Workshop Support:

Move trucks and trailers within the yard and workshop

Assist with vehicle positioning for mechanics

Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard

Support the team with general Workshop operational duties

This is not long-haul work. You will be home every day.

 

About You

We are specifically seeking someone who:

Holds a current HC Licence

Has solid, proven experience driving crashbox/manual transmissions

Must have a minimum of 3+ years of HC driving experience

Has a clean driving record

Must maintain a clean driving record with no offences in the last 12 months

Understands heavy vehicle safety and compliance requirements

Must demonstrate knowledge of basic safety checks and heavy vehicle safety procedures

Is reliable, punctual and consistent

Takes pride in maintaining equipment and workspace

Wants long-term, secure employment

Must hold permanent residency status in Australia

You are steady, dependable and understand the importance of turning up and doing the job properly.

All Fleet Service & Repairs will be expanding in North Queensland and is looking for an experienced Field Service Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to lead our Townsville service operations.

This is different to a normal workshop role—you’ll work independently, build customer relationships, and help grow our regional presence, backed by a family-owned business with over 30 years of industry experience.

About the Role
Based in Mt St John, Townsville, you’ll provide mobile servicing, diagnostics, repairs and breakdown support for heavy trucks and trailers across Townsville and surrounding regions.

 

Your onboarding includes:

1 week training in Brisbane, then

1 week of local support before taking ownership of your territory

Occasional after-hours breakdown call-outs and regional travel are required. Overtime and penalty rates apply.
